Anti Aging foot care: 3 steps to younger, happy feet

If you want your feet to carry you for life, you better take good care of them. Did you know that at 65, an average person would have walked more than 75,000 miles? That is pretty much like circling the Earth three times. That is just distance wise- consider the load (you) that they have to bear too.

Aging Feet:

  • Foot size changes, longer and wider.
  • The skin becomes thinner.
  • The skin becomes flaky and dry.
  • Fatty pads on the soles lose their “fatty pads”.
  • Cracked heels.
  • Calluses and rough spots.
  • The arch becomes flatter.
  • Toes and feet can become crooked.
  • Toe nails become thicker.
  • Toe nails get discolored.

If you want to keep on going (quite literally) here are 3 steps to younger feet.

To keep feet clean, always be sure to wear slippers around the house.

1. CLEAN FEET ARE HAPPY FEET

This is probably the number one thing you can do to keep your feet young. Clean feet are happy feet. Of course, every time you take a bath you do get rid of the dirt and grime, but there is much more to it than just soap and water.

So here are two more things that you should do about once a week for deep cleansing.

Foot Mask

After you shower, you should apply a foot mask. Sure there are a lot of different brands on the market, and you can also try out those home remedies, but no matter which one you decide on, the main point of a good foot mask is to exfoliate.

Scrub

After your foot mask, you want to follow up with a good scrub with a pumice stone. You want to focus on the heels and the balls of your feet. After all, those are the areas that need it the most. This will help you get rid of those nasty calluses and rough spots leaving you with smooth soles.

2. FOOT SOAK

After a long tiring day, instead of just kicking off your shoes ,give yourself a foot soak too. This is the perfect treat for aching feet. Now, I’m not saying that you should do this each and every day (but if you want to, then by all means!), but the occasional dip will definitely revitalize those tired, sore feet.

To soak you feet properly, you fist want to fill up a tube with nice warm water.  Then you can go ahead and throw in your bath salts or oils of choice.  Dip you feet in and indulge.  Ten minutes should be just right.

  • TIP:  If you really want to get rid of those dead skin cells, you can add 1/4 a cup of milk.  The lactic acid will help lossen them up.

Rub on some intense moisturizer then wear over night with socks to really lock in the good stuff.

3. MOISTURIZE

Just like any other part of your body that is covered in skin, you want to keep them moisturized. Once your feet are squeaky clean, it’s time to rub on the lotion. You can use whatever you have on your shelf already ( as long as the lotion you have is vitamin enriched, which if it isn’t, you shouldn’t be using it at all). But for problem areas, like calluses, you probably want to slather on some foot cream too.

Since you go for deep cleansing every now and then, why not go for deep conditioning too? At least twice a month, use a foot repair product that has intense moisturizer to help your feet stay soft.
