Breakfast smoothie: strawberry chia banana

They weren’t kidding when they said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It revs up your metabolism, it gives you the energy your need, it keeps you from binge eating, plus it has been proven that people who have a healthy breakfast in morning are generally in a better mood than those who skip it.

So what if you don’t have the time to sit down for some good old pancakes, bacon, and eggs? A great solution for breakfast on the go is this super healthy and yummy, might I add, oatmeal smoothie. It’s a complete meal in a glass. You can make it ahead and store in the fridge if you’re really strapped for time, or you can enjoy it freshly made in the morning too.

Breakfast  Smoothie: Strawberry Chia Banana

Rushing out or not, this is definitely one recipe worth trying:

What You Need:

  • ¼ cup uncooked oats
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of dried chia seeds
  • ¾ cup fresh milk (you can also substitute with almond milk)
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice
  • ¼ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup ice
  • 3 strawberries
  • ½ banana

What To Do:

You will need a blender too. The first step is to take your oats and your chia seeds and blend on high until you have flour like texture. Then add your milk and juice and use a spoon to stir in the oats and chia seeds. You wanna bring them up from the bottom. Peel your banana, cap your strawberries before adding them to the mix. Continue on with the yogurt and the ice and give it another whiz until you have reached the desired creamy smoothness.

If you are planning ahead and want to store this smoothie, make sure you move it to a sealable jar.

This makes 2 cups and can sit in the fridge for about 3-4 days.
