Snoring is primarily represents no health threat but is extremely loud and irregular snoring is usually a first sign of obstructive sleep apnea, a potentially life-threatening disease that occurs in five percent of the population and predominantly affects obese men in middle age. Apnea was derived from the Greek and means cessation of breathing. To date there is no universally accepted clinical definition of snoring. Sleep specialists distinguish occasional, chronic, and the so-called “apnea” snoring with brief apnea. Many people snore only occasionally for increased alcohol consumption. Other snoring during installation of the nasal polyp or inflamed by proliferating adenoids. Others saw every night the volume can often exceed 75 dB.
Causes of snoring
During sleep, generally decreases from the muscle tone. Of these, the muscles of the mouth and throat are not spared. The lower jaw drops open and the tongue falls back, relaxes the soft palate. The large airways are narrow, often in overweight people favored by fat deposits in this area. The past grazing in breathing air causes vibration of the uvula and soft palate on snoring. Takes on greater proportions, the relaxation, which is favored by consumption of sleeping pills and alcohol, it comes with already difficult breathing called for a complete closure of the throat with respiratory failure by experts as sleep apnea.
Consequence of snoring
During normal snorers also complain about lack of concentration already, the sleep pattern in Apnoikern is so disturbed that they wake up in the morning knocked out. The reason for this, that they have for the most part slept, but only slightly or not at all reached a relaxing deep sheep. For it was the night a single effort by the breathing had closure, the time may well take up to two minutes, overcome with madness forces. This negative pressure generated in the chest is a severe strain on the heart. The oxygen supply decreases with the interruptions in breathing into threatening depths, which will have all the organ systems and complications are almost inevitable.
In addition to daytime sleepiness, the patients suffer but often at the head pressure, lack of concentration, decrease in mental abilities, impotence, increased sweating. High blood pressure and heart rhythm disturbances are caused in some patients with the sleep apnea syndrome, the rate of stroke is increased, and we know that many road accidents by falling asleep at the wheel as a result of increased daytime sleepiness are caused.
