Hepatitis : Types, causes and treatment
Hepatitis:-
Inflammation of liver parenchyma due to infection of an hepatitis virus is called as hepatitis. Hepatitis group of virus causes number of liver disorders worldwide. Some toxins such as alcohol can also cause liver diseases.
Types of Hepatitis:-
On the basis of severity hepatitis can be classified as:
1. acute hepatitis
2. chronic hepatitis
1. Acute hepatitis : acute inflammation of liver due to an infection by hepatitis virus. The most common viruses are hepatitis A and E, herpes simplex, cytomegalovirus, yellow fever virus, adenoviruses etc.
Causes of acute hepatitis:
* hepatitis A and E, herpes simplex, adenovirus etc..
* non virus infection is caused by toxoplasma, leptospira, etc.
* natural or artificial toxins,
* alcohol consumption,
* ischemic hepatitis,
* pregnancy, and
* autoimmune diseases are the causes of acute hepatitis.
Causes of chronic hepatitis:
* causative viruses are hepatitis B, and or hepatitis D , E,
* autoimmune disorders,
* chronic alcohol consumption,
* methyldopa, isoniazid, ketoconazole and some other drugs causes chronic hepatitis.
* primary biliary diseases etc…
Transmission of viruses : transmission of viruses occur through contaminated, water, food,
or any unsterile procedures carries an infection.
