Sure, coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer all on it’s own, but if you’re feeling a bit crafty and want to enhance all the benefits that you get from coconut oil, and add an extra soothing effect, then why not make your very own coconut oil lotion?
All you need is to add a few more ingredients and a little bit of your time (I swear, this really doesn’t take too long!) Interested? Well, ingredients and instructions below!
What You Need:
- 1 Jar/ Bottle of Coconut Oil
- Lavender Oil
- Argan Oil
- 3 Vitamin E Capsules
- Glass Jar (Mason Jars are perfect for this!)
What To Do:
Gather up all your ingredients together. Of course, the first thing you want to make sure of is that your glass jar is clean and dry. This is where you’ll be storing your homemade coconut oil lotion which you will be slathering it all over your face and body, after all. (Yes, you can apply it on your face, too!) So cleanliness is of utmost importance.
Once washed and left to dry, we can move on to actually making the lotion. Coconut oil is in its solid state when left in room temperature. We want it in its liquid form, so we need to heat it up. Really easy to do! Just pop the whole jar/bottle in the microwave for about a minute to a minute and a half and there you go, coconut oil in it’s liquid form.
Next is to add your other oils. Lavender is great because this essential oil can has a calming effect that can help soothe your tired senses and let you relax.
So, add about a teaspoon of each to the coconut oil. It may seem like a lot, but remember, this is for a whole jar/bottle of lotion and will last a really long time.
And then finally, take 3 capsules of Vitamin E, prick, and squeeze out the good stuff. Mix well.
When done, pour your mixture into your clean glass jar. Screw the lid on and let it cool to room temp. Done.
