newborn baby sleeps too much: facts and tips

new born baby sleeps more than 18 hours a day, but this sleep is not continuous.  newborns stretch for every two to three hours, mainly to get feed.

newborn sleep tips :-

  • new borns need a calm environment to sleep.
  • don’t make the baby to sleep along with you in your bed.
  • crib is the most recommended place for the newborn for early weeks.
  • babies have different stages of sleep as drowsing, REM sleep, deep sleep.
  • feed the baby when it cries, for every 2 to 3 hours.
  • don’t place any object in the crib, as they may interfere with sleep.
  • change the diaper  whenever newborn makes noises indicating irritaation.
  • play a melody in very low pitch to make your baby sleep.
  • if you disturb the baby sleep , it will cry.
  • don’t wake up the newborn unnecessarily.
