I feel sensation in my teeth while eating food and while drinking any drink, so I went to a dentist. He advised me Root canal treatment. While doing so he drilled my tooth and pierced it with sharp wires several times, cleaned the tooth cavity with few solutions and packed it with medicated cotton bud after that he advised me to come after two days. I am having pain in this tooth in which root canal treatment is being done. Please advise me, why is pain in my tooth, will it remain even after the treatment is completed or there is any other reason for it. Can I take pain killers for pain relief?
Answer (by Dr. Chirag Semlani): Root canal treatment is the procedure where cavity and the infected nerve tissue are removed from the tooth and is restored with artificial nerve and filling. During the procedure, files are used which are needle like instruments which removes and scrubs the wall of canal, which are then disinfected with the cleansing agent. Therefore there are chances of having pain during the procedure. The pain usually subsides within few days of the treatment. You can take painkillers for few days for relief.
