The specified hormone produced during pregnancy, i.e. human chorionic gonadotropine is measured to confirm pregnancy. human chorionic gonadotrophine can be measured in both blood and urine.
blood HCG test : HCG in blood is measured to confirm pregnancy.
urine HCG test : HCG in urine is measured to confirm pregnancy.
human chorionic gonadotrophin rises during first trimester of pregnancy, and declines later. when sufficient amount of HCG is present in blood then only HCG is identified in urine.
there are two types of blood HCG tests.
1. qualitative HCG TEST.
2. quantitative HCG TEST.
for blood HCG test, sample blood is collected in a tube and sent to the laboratory. test may take few hours to a day.
how to do pregnancy test at home ?
urine HCG test can be easily done at home.
* get chemical strips for pregnancy test from chemist.
* apply few drops of urine to strip as per indication.
* color change in the strip indicates pregnancy and it is said to confirm pregnancy.
* HCG can be seen in urine after 10 – 12 days of conception.
* once you learn the pregnancy test from health care center,it will be very easy to conduct pregnancy test yourself at home.
