Problems caused by removed tooth – necessity for partial dentures?

One of my side front tooth is missing. It was removed by the doctor as it was loose. Is it necessary to replace the missing tooth? Why should it be replaced? How can it be replaced? My doctor says, I need partial dentures. What are partial dentures and how many types are there? Which type is cheap, sturdy and comfortable to use? How long a denture can work? Answer (by Dr. Chirag Semlani): The entire jaw harmony is maintained by all the teeth. If one or the other tooth is extracted or shed the missing place creates disharmony in the jaw. This takes time, but the outcome is not good, as it affects the other teeth also. When there is a missing tooth the empty space is occupied by the teeth around the space. The upper teeth tries to comedown, and the neighbouring teeth try to fall in the space to close it. One of the treatment to replace the tooth loss is partial dentures which are removable dentures with only lost teeth in it. There are various types of partial dentures acrylic partial dentures, cast partial dentures, flexible dentures etc. Most cheap and comfortable ones are acrylic partial dentures. Ideally the denture should be changed every five years, in five year there are chances of change in fit of dentures due to bone resorption.
