Re: Can this stuff make you fat??

Well it should be rather obvious that it made contributed to your husband’s weight gain.  Presuming, of course, that he merely switched meds.  Or his nerve pain didn’t improve because of the Neurontin and he became active, lost the weight because of that, then stopped the Neurontin.

Regardless, weight gain is an uncommon side effect of Neurontin.  It can happen, it just doesn’t do so very often.

Re: Can this stuff make you fat??
I gained weight on neurontin- some of it I think was just from the drug, some of it was bloat, some of it was because it totally fucked with my blood sugar & I had to eat a lot more carbs a lot more frequently than normally.  I would literally suddenly shake uncontrollably and have to sit down and eat snacks until I stopped shaking.  I am a distance runner & this would happen even in the middle of a short run- I would have to sit down on a trail & eat snacks.  Very embarrassing.  It happend while driving my daughter to school.  It happend at my daughters school.  It happened everywhere.  I almost passed out several times & the only thing that solved it was to eat snacks.  I was very happy to get off of neurontin.

Hmmm, that’s odd. This American Family Physician article from findarticles.com says that gabapentin didn’t mess with the glycemic control of any of the already-diabetic-people in the diabetic neuropathic pain study.

Re: Can this stuff make you fat??
All I can say is that it totally did this to me.  I never had a problem with this before and as soon as I went off of it, it pretty much stopped.  Could be a coincidence, but I think not.  Now, I could just be one of the lucky freaks that this happened to- we all know that anything can happen to a few select people on pretty much any med that doesn’t happen to everyone as a rule.  I can only report what happened to me, personally.

Actually, that has been observed more than once. There were more, but I wanted to give you things that weren’t literature reviews (I mean the scientific literature).
