Health QuestionsCategory: MedicationsFlupenthixol the depot antidepressant

No, that’s not a typo. This depot antipsychotic has some not to be sniffed at antidepressant properties:

Efficacy and tolerability of flupenthixol decanoate in the treatment of depression and psychosomatic disorders: a multicenter trial in general practice.

Depression-inducing and antidepressive effects of neuroleptics. Experiences with flupenthixol and flupenthixol decanoate.

Here is where I got the idea to look up “depot antidepressant”:
Long-term treatment of depression: is there a use for depot antidepressants? They mention venlafaxine as a possible candidate for depot formulization. That was in 1997, and I can’t find any indication that anyone else cared since then. Crap.

I’m seeing it already, and I’ve been riding the bus to and from college less than a year.
