Hello,

I’ve trolled these forums since the beginning of this year, which was approximately the same time I started taking meds for bipolar disorder and GAD.  The insight and knowledge I’ve gleaned from these forums has been invaluable.  Thanks to those of you that contribute.

My Doc has diagnosed me with GAD and “bipolar spectrum disorder”.  I primarily exist in a hypomanic state (since the age of thirteen) with “ultradian” cycling into brief periods (3 minutes to 3 hours) of depression.  I have not had a full blown manic/psychotic episode.  I have come pretty close though.

I’ve been taking Clonazepam for anxiety – which I really want off of.  The memory issues truly suck – from what I can remember Wink  The current medication I’m titrating up on for mood stabilzation is Trileptal.  I’m at 600mg a day and moving up at 300mg per week.  My anxiety has been shooting through the roof.  I have no other changes going on in my life aside from the Trileptal ramp-up.  I tried Lexapro earlier this year, and it made me feel like I was on meth.  However, I was not on any mood stabilizers at the time.  My Doc has prescribed Celexa once I reach either 900 or 1200mg of Trileptal per day (my choice).  The hope is that having the mood stabilizer on board will counteract the amped feeling I’ll probably get from the Celexa.

My Doc is very progressive.  She listens to my ideas and requests regarding meds.  I do a lot of research and she recognizes it.  So any opinions and or input from any of you would be very valuable and appreciated.

I am experiencing positive effects from the Trileptal.  Other than the possible anxiety, I’m having no other side effects.  I can’t say for sure if the increased anxiety is due to the Trileptal.  Has anyone else experienced or known someone else who has experienced increased anxiety while taking Trileptal?  The only evidence I have found that this could be a possibility is on the rxlist site: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic3/oxcarbazepine_ad.htm

Thanks,
