Root Canal Treatment for tooth – precautions – how many sittings needed

My dentist was doing root canal treatment, I got injured in my gum during the procedure by the instrument. I had severe pain due to gum injury. He advised me to take Emanzen-D to get relief from pain. I am not finding it effective. Please advise me if I can take Enzoflam in place of Emanzen-D. How many sittings will be required  for root canal treatment? What precautions I need to take after it?

Answer (by Dr. Chirag Semlani): You can go ahead with enzoflam but provided you take an antacid with enzoflam as this tablet creates acidity in many patients. You can take antacid like Rantec with enzoflam.

Root canal treatments (RCT) are generally done in 2 to 3 sittings which depend from case to case. Nowadays even single sitting RCT is done in which root canal treatment is completed in one sitting. Precaution that needs to be taken care of post root canal treatment is to avoid using the tooth for chewing and get the cap done as early as possible as this strengthens the tooth post RCT.
