Why It’s Good:

Because of the ingredients in this green smoothie, you will get a good dose of the following:

Potassium
Vitamin C
Vitamin K
Vitamin A

Healthy Heart

The Vitamin A and C that you get from Spinach are actually really great antioxidants, ones that fight of free radicals and help prevent cholesterol from building up and pretty much sticking to and clogging up the walls of you blood vessels. This pretty much means reduced risk of heart attack and stroke. Plus spinach as been known to strengthen your muscles (Think of Popeye once again!). Your heart is a muscle. You do the math.

Spinach may help both treat and prevent certain heart conditions such as:

  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Heart failure
  • Hypertension
  • Coronary heart diseases

Healthy Bones

Did you know that a single cup of spinach blended into a smoothie provides about 200% of the daily recommended intake of Vitamin K? Well, this recipe even has 2 cups! Vitamin K helps strengthen your bones. Because you also get calcium and magnesium from spinach, this really does reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

Healthy Skin

Going back to the antioxidants, remember that antioxidants=anti aging especially when it comes to your skin.

  • Less wrinkles
  • Even skin tone
  • Tighter pores
  • Reduced age spots
  • Reduced sun spots
  • Less sag

Reduce Risk of Cancer

The spinach leaves blended into the smoothie specifically helps prevent prostate cancer because it increases your intake of carotenoids. It may reduce the risk of ovarian cancer and lung cancer because of it’s flavanoid, folate, tocopherol and chlorophyllin compounds.
