When it comes to your anti aging diet, not only do you have to watch what you eat, but what you drink as well. Of course, water is the ultimate fountain of youth, but there are sweeter alternatives to good old H2o.
I’m not saying that you should ever ditch drinking at least 8 glasses a day (yes, they were telling the truth way back when) , but there are great smoothies and juices that have been proven to help turn back the clock.
Here is my all time favorite juice recipe, tasty and effective, plus it is super simple to prepare.
What You’ll Need:
- 1 ½ cups of water
- 1 cup of blueberries
- ½ a cup of strawberries
- ½ of a medium sized beet
- 1 large kale leaf
What To Do:
- The very first thing that you need to do is wash all of your ingredients. This is always the first step when dealing with fresh fruits and veggies. Leave to drain in the sink.
- While the berries are in the colander, you can take your beet, chop off the roots, and cut it in half. It’s a good idea for you to peel the beet as the skin may leave you with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
- Take the kale leaf and remove the stem.
- Put all ingredients in your juicer (a blender will work just fine) and whiz away.
- Pour and enjoy!
The Juice On The Juice
So now that you have the juice recipe, let’s take a look on why it actually works.
When it comes to antioxidants, it just doesn’t get any sweeter than this. Berries are jam packed with this stuff. And you know how it goes…
antioxidants = anti aging.
Plus, more than just keeping the wrinkles away, berries up the immune system and ward off tons of different diseases too, from the common cold to something as serious as cancer.
Beets are another great source of antioxidants, as well as vitamins A, C, and B, zinc, magnesium, and calcium (to name a few), all of which do wonders for your skin. But when it comes to beets and anti aging, it takes pride in damage control much more than prevention.
You see, the key is the folic acid that it contains. Folic acid is absolutely necessary when it comes to new cell production, and when you want to stay young, you’ve got to replace the old, wrinkled, worn out cells with fresh new ones.
Kale is definitely an anti aging super food. Yes, this too is yet again another source of antioxidants, but it definitely boasts of it’s anti inflammatory properties. You see, inflammation is one of the main the culprits behind the wear and tear of your body as well as your mind, causing you to age much faster. Obviously, anti inflammatory foods, such as kale, battles against it.
Kale also helps lower cholesterol, strengthen bones, detox, and even prevent cancer.
