Dry patches, cracked skin, red blotches- these are what goes on every woman’s Christmas wish-NOT list. As the temperature drops, unfortunately skin problems rise. The winter cold can definitely be cruel.
But instead running off to your nearest department store for a solution, just head on to your kitchen instead. When it comes it DIY winter skin care, you should definitely check out this homemade face moisturizer recipe- simple but effective in keeping your skin in tip top shape over the chilly holidays.
What You Need:
- Aloe Vera is amazing. Like I said earlier, if you don’t have a plant yet, GET ONE! Aloe is a great moisturizer- it’s light and super effective. (for men, it is an amazing aftershave!) Because of it’s soothing properties, it treats sunburn, burns from the frying pan, and even acne too. It helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles, if applied when pregnant, helps prevent stretch marks too. (If applied after birth, it can help reduce the appearance.)
- Vegetable Glycerin also makes the list of the best natural moisturizers you can get your hands on (at a dirt cheap price, might I add). Not only does it retain moisture, but vegetable glycerin also draws oxygen to the skin- two factors that are key in anti aging skin care. Because it is hypoallergenic and antibacterial at the same time, it is safe for people suffering from acne to use it without worrying about aggravating their condition. Plus, it also helps treat the problem.
What To Do:
Reiterating on how SIMPLE it is, once you have everything you need, simply put all the ingredients in a glass jar, save the oils for last, and mix well. Once everything is really blended in, you are good to go.
How To Apply:
Start with a clean face. So after you’ve washed your face, pat dry. (Remember to always, ALWAYS pat dry. This will help keep your pores tight, just as you should use cool, if not cold, water to rinse.) Then simply take some of your homemade face moisturizer with your fingers and apply evenly on your face and neck. You wanna massage it in in circular motions to make sure your skin really absorbs all the good stuff. Focus on problem areas. Done.
You want to apply this twice a day. Once in the morning when you get up and right before you go to bed at night.
